Art Therapy In Your Space
Run art therapy in-person in your organization or community using your own resources.
Art therapy can look so many different ways in your community. On this page I will walk you through some of the basic things we would need to run groups and how we can work together in bringing art therapy in your community.
The “Art Studio” and Supplies
Art can be done in pretty much any space with many different materials but here are some things that would be needed or would be an asset.

The Essentials (for groups or one-to-one sessions)
Private room
One that we would be minimally interrupted by people coming and going. Ideally one with a door.
Tables
Nothing fancy but something to make art on and hold the art supplies as we work.
Seating
To be comfortable as we create.
Art Supplies
Art therapy usually only requires basic art supplies so if you have art supplies in your facility we would start with using what you have. If there are special art projects that require something different than what you already have, I would request the materials and either your organization buys them or I can purchase them and you can pay me back.
Art can be made even out of recycled materials so there are ways to keep things economical and ecological.
Nice If You Have It
Sink
Especially if it’s in the room we are making art. This isn’t absolutely essential but is an added bonus especially if we are using paints, pastels, glue or anything that requires a lot of cleaning and water.
Soap
Either dish or hand soap.
Table Coverings
Art can be messy so it’s ideal to have something to cover your tables with if they aren’t supposed to get dirty. I can bring this or your organization can provide them.
Special art supplies
Depending on what projects or type of things we create we might need some special supplies. We can be in conversation about this before anything is purchased.

Working Together: The Process
1: Initial Consultation
We would meet for a free consultation either in-person or online to talk about what your community needs and the goals for the art therapy program. Or you can fill out this online form giving me the information about your group and I will get back to you.
2: Getting to Know Each Other (for communities that are closed or have higher needs)
If your community has higher needs (like social difficulties, cognitive disabilities, etc.) I can come and visit your group for free 2-3 times to get a feel for your community and they can get to know me as well.
If this isn’t needed, we could start right away.
3: We start
I might add some suggestions of what art therapy could look like after our initial chat. We can workshop what would be best for your community together and then time, day and frequency I would come.
3: Continual Collaboration
I value continual communication with each other to make any changes to adapt to your community as it changes.
You always have the option to discontinue using my services for any or no reason, and don’t have to share the reason with me.
Types of Groups

Outreach Groups
This art group is designed to invite your neighborhood or wider community to participate in an art therapy group together. Art provides a natural way for people to gather around a table and create together or alongside one another. The process of making art can ease the pressure some people feel around conversation, making it easier to connect in a relaxed, low-pressure environment.
Open and drop-in studios are flexible and can run weekly for as long as you’d like. They’re open to anyone, and participants can come and go as needed, making it easy to welcome a wide variety of people..
Custom Groups
Together, we can create a group or program that fits the needs of your community.
We would start by meeting to talk about your goals and what your community might benefit from. From there, I would develop a general plan for an art group based on our conversation. We could then review it together and adjust anything needed until it feels like a good fit for your community.

Group Sizes
2 people minimum and 12 maximum.
If there is a lot of interest in a group we can offer another group time so that more people can come.
If only one person registers for an in-person group we will either cancel or they can have the option of having a one-to-one/individual session but at the price of an individual session.
Art Therapy for Individuals
If you have individuals in your community interested in receiving art therapy they can work with me online and can check out this page. If they would like to meet in-person I can come to do therapy with them in your building.
